Aspirin is widely available in the U.S. as an over-the-counter medication. This page summarizes publicly available information regarding formulation, dosing availability, coverage, and molecular testing considerations.

Availability
Aspirin is an oral medication available in the U.S. in 81 mg (low-dose) and 325 mg (regular-strength) formulations from various generic manufacturers through retail and mail-order pharmacies.1-5* It is available over-the-counter and may also be prescribed by a clinician.1,2
Pricing
Publicly available pharmacy websites list a range of prices for aspirin tablets. Reported prices are approximately $5–$15 for 30 tablets.4,5 Actual costs may vary by pharmacy, location, insurance coverage, and use of discount programs.
Insurance coverage
When prescribed, aspirin may be eligible for coverage or reimbursement under some insurance plans.6-8 Coverage and copays vary by plan and may differ across regions.
Molecular testing
The NCCN Guidelines for colon and rectal cancers state that molecular profiling for PI3K pathway alterations should be performed on all stage II–III colon and rectal tumors.9,10
